Lester F Bond

Lester F. Bond, 76, of Kutztown died Tuesday, June 23, 2009 in his residence. He was the husband of the late Bertha M. (Wagaman) Bond who died on December 18, 1999.

Born in Lynn Township, Lehigh County, he was a son of the late Clarence A. and Florence E. (Fister) Bond. He was a 1950 graduate of Kutztown High School, Kutztown. A career in the military began in 1951. Bond was a Chief Warrant Officer, 2 nd Class, in the US Navy, having served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars retiring in 1971. He then was employed in the refrigeration and air conditioning departments at Wernersville State Hospital, Wernersville, from 1972 to 1984. He was a life member of VFW Post #560, Kutztown; the Ray A. Master, Post #217, American Legion, Topton; the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #839, Kutztown, where he served as president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and trustee; the Lyons and Kutztown Fire Companies; the Mertztown and Kutztown Rod and Gun Clubs; and the Kutztown Lions Club.

He is survived by Daughter, Tammy M. Bond companion of Steve M. Haring, Lyon Station; Step Daughter, Sherry V. (DeLong) wife of Allan Wolf, Ridgefield, CT; Stepsons, Jeffrey Y. husband of Bonnie J. (King) DeLong, Kutztown, Yale J., II, husband of Ann M. (Gavin) DeLong, Yorktown, VA, Jimmy D. husband of Sue A. (Kolarsick) DeLong, Hellertown; Sisters, Jean F. (Bond) widow of Elmer Rauch, Kempton, Shirley I. (Bond) wife of Donald Fotheringill, Exeter Township; Brother Richard C. husband of Janet (Bailey) Bond, Kempton; 1 Grandson; 12 Step Grandchildren; 1 Great Granddaughter and 7 Step Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by Son, Mitchell E. Bond in 1983.

Funeral Services are Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 10:30 AM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Interment with Military Honors in Fairview Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM.

The family requests contributions be made to the Compassionate Care Hospice, 110 Brown Street, Suite 23, Middletown, PA 17057. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
