Mr. Leroy E. Bleiler

November 5, 1929 — June 16, 2024

LeRoy E. Bleiler, 94, formerly of Mertztown and Kutztown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at The Lutheran Home at Topton, where he resided since November, 2023. LeRoy was the widower of Jean I. (Loose) Bleiler, who passed away in 1978, and Elinor (Hermansader) Bleiler, who passed away in 2019.

Born in Mertztown, PA, LeRoy was a son of the late John and Minnie (Fenstermacher) Bleiler and was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Topton. Mr. Bleiler honorably and faithfully served his country in The United States Army, having served in the Korean War. He worked as a bricklayer, and was a member of both the International and Local Bricklayers Unions, where he was honored for 75 years of service in 2023.

LeRoy could often be found on Saturday mornings spending time with his friends at Renninger's Farmers Market in Kutztown. He also enjoyed going to his "Playground"…the casinos and eating at Shady Maple, especially on his birthday.

Mr. Bleiler is survived by two daughters, Cheryl A. (Bleiler), widow of Jeffrey L. Dries, Emmaus, and Lori R. (Bleiler), wife of Dean A. DeLong, Mertztown, PA; step-son, Steven, husband of Diana (Tyler) Mundell, Reading; sister, Jane (Bleiler), widow of Stanley Geisinger, Barto, PA; four grandchildren, Kevin, husband of Lisa (Holland) Dries, Emmaus, Matthew, husband of Kayla (Corman) DeLong, Topton, Rebecca (DeLong), wife of Robert Hoover, Reading and Jamie (Dries) Williams, Reading; and four great-grandchildren, Lucas DeLong, Gwendolyn DeLong, Margot Williams and Waylon Hoover.

In addition to his two wives and parents, LeRoy was predeceased by his brothers, Max, George, John, Woodrow, Franklin, and Donald.

A funeral service to celebrate and honor LeRoy's life will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA, with The Reverend David Williams officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Topton Union Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
