Lee J. Luckenbill, 81, formerly of Kutztown, Bradenton, Fla, and West Virginia, died Saturday, October 8, 2011 in ManorCare, Laureldale where he was a patient since July. He was the husband of Gladys R. (Mertz) Luckenbill, Fleetwood. They were married August 18, 1951.
Born in Perry Township, he was a son of the late Jerry G. and Lavada E. (Heffner) Luckenbill. He was a member and former church council president of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Rockland Township. He was a 1948 graduate of Kutztown Area High School, Kutztown. Lee was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a welder at the former Dana Corporation, Parish Division, Reading, for 36 years until his retirement March 1, 1985. Mr. Luckenbill was a member of Kutztown Fire Company and Hoch-Balthaser, Post 480, American Legion, Kutztown. He also coached Little League in Kutztown.
He is survived by Wife, Sons, Joseph L. husband of Gay S. (Masters) Luckenbill, Kutztown and James E. Luckenbill, West Virginia. Other survivors include Brothers, Ray J. Luckenbill, Wernersville and Mark C. and his wife Elsie Luckenbill, Lyon Station. There is also a Granddaughter, Jenna M. Luckenbill. He was predeceased by a Daughter, Audrey S. Luckenbill who died in 1955.
Funeral Services are Wednesday, October 12, 2011, 10:30 AM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, 19530. Interment with Military Honors provided by Ray A. Master Post 217 American Legion, Topton, in New Jerusalem Union Cemetery, Rockland Township. Friends may call Wednesday, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
The family requests contributions be made to New Jerusalem Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 27 Lyons Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
