Lee H. Hertzog, 77, of State Street, Alburtis died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at The Lutheran Home at Topton, where he resided since April. He was the husband of Jean M. (Werley) Hertzog. They were married February 17, 1951.
Born in Rockland Township, he was a son of the late George and Blanche (Eckert) Hertzog. He was a past member of New Jerusalem United Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a sprayer in the enamel plant for 43 years at Caloric Corporation at its former Topton Plant until his retirement in 1991. He was a life member of the VFW Post #8282, Breingsville, Ray A. Master, Post #217, American Legion, Topton, and was an Assistant Scout Master of Longswamp Troop #575 where he was a merit badge counselor.
He is survived by Wife, Son, Craig L. husband of Linda K. (Bard) Hertzog, Sinking Spring; Daughter, Debra J. wife of Kenneth R. Dietrich, Lenhartsville; Sisters, Mary A. widow of Marlin Werley, Jr., Dryville, Dorothy widow of Carl Keiser, Kutztown, Shirley widow of Henry Steffy, Mertztown. In addition he is survived by 2 Grandchildren, Michael K. husband of Amy N. (Lentz) Dietrich, Michelle R. (Dietrich) wife of Daniel D. Batz, and 5 Great-Granddaughters, Erika N. Dietrich, Briahna R. Batz, Meaghan J. Dietrich, Kourtney J. Dietrich, Rebecca J. Batz. He was pre-deceased by a Brother, George Hertzog.
Memorial Services are Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at 10:30 AM from Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, 19530. Inurnment with Military Honors provided by the Ray A. Master, Post #217, American Legion, Topton, in New Jerusalem Union Cemetery, Fleetwood. Friends may call Wednesday, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
