Lee D. Hess, 71, of Alburtis, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 in the Inpatient Hospice unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the loving husband of Sharon F. (Fuller) Hess, whom he married on August 21, 1965.

Born in Longswamp Township, Lee was one of the 11 children of the late Earl J. and Myrle (Rudolph) Hess. He was a member of Huff's Union Church, Alburtis, and was a 1963 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School. Lee was employed for 36 years, as a maintenance worker in the power house, first by Schaefer Brewing Co., then Stroh's Brewing Co., and finally by Pabst Brewing Co., Fogelsville, retiring in 2009. Prior to that, he worked for Boyertown Bodyworks, Bechtelsville Stone Quarry, DANA Corp., and Bethlehem Steel Corp. He also traveled with "Little Richard" and his carnivals, in his younger years. A family man, Lee enjoyed working around the house and yard, and tinkering around on his cars. He also enjoyed reading.

Lee is survived by his Wife of 51 years and caregiver, Sharon, his 4 Children, Earl J., husband of Daphne A. (Dickerson)  Hess, Virginville, Michele L., wife of Neal R. Christman, Kutztown, Brandon M., husband of Crystal L. (Barlet) Hess, Mertztown, and Timothy A. Hess, Chincoteague Island, VA. He is also survived by 9 Grandchildren, 3 Great-Grandchildren, 5 Sisters, and will be deeply missed by his best friend, Mr. Dutch. He was predeceased by his Parents; 2 Sisters; and 3 Brothers.

A memorial service to celebrate Lee's life will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 12:00 noon in Huff's Union Church, 540 Conrad Road, Alburtis, PA, with Reverend Jane M. Kropa officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday morning from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon in the church. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family.
