Leah Epting, 94, formerly of Larch Wood Road, Wyomissing, died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, in the Henry Health Care Center, The Lutheran Home at Topton, Topton, where she has been a resident since October 16, 1996. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Epting who died on August 6, 1969.
Born in Boyertown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter M. and the late Mabel R. (Richard) Yoder. She was a secretary and office manager for the Lutheran Inner Mission Society, Berks County, from 1958 to 1972. She was a 1928 graduate of Boyertown High School, Boyertown. She was the president for 7 years and the tour director for 10 years for AARP #753, Wernersville; and, she was also their chaplain and legislative chairperson. She was a member of the Reading Hospital Auxiliary, West Reading. She was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing. She was one of the original organizers of the 50 + Club at the church. She was President, secretary, pianist and Assistant Superintendent of the Primary Department of the Sunday School.
She is survived by Daughter, Helen E. Murdock, Topton; 5 Grandchildren, 2 Step Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, 6 Step Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Lawrence Epting on June 6, 1988.
Funeral Services are Monday, April 11, 2005 at 10:00 AM from The Chapel at the Lutheran Home at Topton, 1 South Home Avenue, Topton. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Boyertown. Friends may call Monday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.
