Laura M Wiltrout

Laura M. Wiltrout, 96, formerly of Kutztown, died Thursday, April 16, 2009 in The Lutheran Home at Topton, where she resided for five years. She was the widow of Luther J. Wiltrout who died August 23, 1971.

Born in Richmond Township, PA, she was a daughter of the late Edwin J. and Sue (Heffner) Kutz. She was a member of Becker’s St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, PA. She first started teaching at Merkel’s Run One Room School House, and then taught at Kempsville One Room School House before she began her 26 year career as an elementary teacher for the Fleetwood School District, retiring in 1976, after a total of 32 years. Mrs. Wiltrout was a 1929 graduate of Kutztown High School and a 1931 graduate of Kutztown Normal School, now Kutztown University. She loved to read, travel, speak Pennsylvania Dutch, and cook for her family - mince pies, potato filling, and chocolate cake.

She is survived by Daughter, Martha S. (Wiltrout) wife of Michael Lubas, Reading; Sons, Franklin E, husband of Nancy S. Wiltrout, Macungie and Lorrie L., husband of Greta L., Reading, PA. She is also survived by Sisters, Helen M. (Kutz) widow of Edwin Yoh, Wernersville, Mildred M. (Kutz) LeVan, and Margaret E. (Kutz) wife of Daniel George, both of Fleetwood. She was pre-deceased by Brothers, Edwin D. Kutz and Jacob A. Kutz and Sisters, Grace I. (Kutz) Seidel and Edna (Kutz) Einsel. In addition, she is survived by Grandchildren, Jeffrey, husband of Jennifer Wiltrout, Kate, wife of Aaron Applegate, Jonathan Wiltrout, Matthew, husband of Melanie Wiltrout, Susanna, wife of Andrew Minnick, and Hannah Wiltrout. There are also 5 Great-Grandchildren.

Funeral Services are Friday, April 24, 2009, at 1:30 PM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Interment in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call Friday 12:30 to 1:30 PM in the funeral home.

The family requests contributions be made to the memorial fund of Becker’s St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 265 Maidencreek Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
