Larry R. Heagy, Sr., 74, of Kutztown, formerly of Topton, died Monday, February 22, 2010 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of the late Mary J. (Concordia) Heagy who died on April 1, 2006. They were married for over 50 years.
Born in Reading he was a son of the late Russell L. and Emily R. (Roland) Heagy. He was a collection manager at Met Ed, Reading, for 40 years, retiring in 1994. Prior to that, he was employed at the former Pomeroy’s Department Store, Reading, for 2 ½ years. He was a member of the Topton Lions Club where he served as president, vice president, tail twister, lion tamer and was involved in their Saturday youth basketball team. He was the president, vice president and secretary of the Topton Brothers of the Brush of 1976. He managed Little League in the 1960’s and 1970’s and was a member of the Ray A. Master, Post #217, American Legion Honor Guard, both of Topton.
He is survived by Daughters, Debra A. (Heagy) wife of Les A. Meck, and Karen L. (Heagy) wife of Duane K. Geisler, both of Fleetwood; Son, Larry R., Jr., husband of Laurie A. (Moser) Heagy, Mertztown; Grandchildren, Jessica N. and Natalie L. Meck, Tad A. and Dylan P. Geisler, Kirby L. and Mackenzie N. Heagy.
Funeral Services are Monday, March 1, 2010 at 10:30 AM in Ludwick Funeral Home, 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Interment in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton. Friends may call Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
The family requests contributions to the Ray A. Master, Post #217, American Legion Honor Guard, 133 Centre Avenue, Topton, PA 19562. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
