Larry R. Haas , Master Sergeant, United States Air Force, Retired, 74 , of Upper Macungie Township, Lehigh County, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, where he was a patient since Tuesday. He was the loving and devoted husband of Rosalie M. (Derengowski) Haas. They were married November 28, 1964 .
Born in Maxatawny Township, he was a son of the late Edwin R. and Anna M. (Siedel) Haas. Mr. Haas was a member of Saint John's United Church of Christ Church, Kutztown. Larry was a 1957 graduate of Parkland High School. Larry was a career veteran of the United States Air Force retiring in 1978 after 22 years of dedicated service, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. After his retirement, he worked for various companies in Texas and Pennsylvania in the construction trade, and most recently worked for CGI Welco, Bethlehem. Mr. Haas was a member and current secretary of the Longswamp Lions Club. He also served as a past president and chaplain. In addition, he was a member of Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion, Topton, Breinigsville Post 8282 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Lehigh Lodge #326, F. & A.M., Trexlertown .
He is survived by Wife; Daughter, Pat A. (Haas), wife of Charles N. DeValle, Garden Grove, Calif.; Son, George R. Haas, and his wife, Eileen, Milo, TX. There are also 4 Grandchildren, Dawn, Chris, Zach and Samuel; 5 Great Grandchildren, Bryan, Austin, Jackson, Isabelle and Thomas. Other survivors include a Sister, Shirley (Haas), wife of Forrest Rauenzahn and a Brother, Ronald E. Haas and his wife Faye, all of Mertztown; loving Aunt Janice Angstadt, Maxatawny; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, lifetime friends and buddies from Parkland High School .
Memorial Services will be held Monday, July 7, 2014 at 2:30 PM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown with Reverend Sue Marie Baskette, officiating. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call Monday afternoon from 1:30 to 2:30 PM in the funeral home .
