Laraine Hamm

Laraine R. "Tootie" (Hilbert) Hamm, 80, of Mertztown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025 in her residence. She was the widow of Dale F. "Killer" Hamm, Sr., who died January 17, 2014. They were married 50 years prior to his passing.

Born in Mertztown, Laraine was a daughter of the late ClenRoy C. and Rachael M. (Steffey) Hilbert and attended Brandywine School in Topton, PA. For many years, Tootie was a private house cleaner. She also worked at the former Royal Manufacturing in Alburtis and General Seating and Sash Co. in Topton. Most recently, Tootie was employed as a housekeeper by Luther Crest in Allentown for 20 years. Laraine was a longtime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Topton.

Tootie took great pride in caring for her home, which was always immaculate and tidy. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and making clothing alterations for many relatives and friends over the years. She also had a love for photography and going camping with her son Todd and his family. Above all, Tootie loved her family and would often look forward to hosting them at her home for every holiday. She especially adored her grandchildren and supported them in all of their sporting events and other activities.

Tootie will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, and the love she shared with those around her. Her spirit will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Laraine is survived by her two sons, Dale F. "Bud" Hamm, Jr., husband of Dawn L. (Kehl) Hamm, Kutztown, and Todd C. Hamm, fiance of Jennifer A. (Levengood) Ebersole, Reading; five grandchildren, Alexa C., Natalie L, Colin J., Trenton T. Hamm and Keegan D. Ebersole; and brother, Dennis C. Hilbert, Sr., husband of Sandra A. (Moyer) Hilbert, Mertztown. Tootie is also survived by several nieces, nephews, sister and brother-in-laws and their families.

A funeral service to celebrate and honor Tootie's life will be held Friday, June 13, 2025 at 10:30 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Rev. Arthur L. Hahn officiating. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Dryville. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday evening, Jun 12th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM and Friday morning from 10:00 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
