Kermit G Haring

December 11, 1915 — December 24, 2000

Kermit G. Haring, age 85, of Topton Lutheran Home, 1 South Home Avenue, Topton PA, formerly of Lyon Station PA, died Sunday, December 24, 2000 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township PA. He was the Husband of Alma M. (Sanders) Haring. The couple celebrated their 62nd Anniversary on November 19th.

Born in Lyons PA, he was the Son of the late Chester A. and Ellen (Houck) Haring. He was employed as a furnace charger at Carpenter Steel Company, Reading, PA, now Carpenter Technology for 31 years before retiring in 1979. He also worked for the Civil Conservation Camps, a program of the Federal Government, during the great depression in the early thirties, in Fredericksburg MD. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, 550 Fleetwood Road, Bowers, PA, where he served on the Church Council for 15 years during the 1950's and 1960's. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Lyons Cemetery Board from 1960 until 1996. He was also a member of the Lyons Fire Company and the Rockland Rod & Gun Club.

He is survived by his Wife; Daughter, Linda L. (Haring), wife of Ronald L. Schappell of Kutztown PA; Sons, L. John Haring of Lyons PA and Jeffrey D. Haring of Fleetwood PA; Brother, A. Donald Haring of Fleetwood PA; 7 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2000, at 10:30 AM from Hope Lutheran Church, 550 Fleetwood Road, Bowers PA. Interment with Military Honors in Lyons Cemetery (Maxatawny Township), Lyon Station PA. Friends may call Wednesday 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the Church. Arrangements by Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weiss Street, Topton PA.

Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Hope Lutheran Church, 550 Fleetwood Road, Bowers PA 19511.
