Kenneth D Herman

Kenneth D. Herman, 89, a resident of Mosser Nursing Home, Trexlertown, and formerly of Kutztown, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. He was the loving husband of Anna M. (Vargo) Herman, whom he married on October 28, 1950.

Born in Lower Macungie Township, Lehigh County, Kenneth was a son of the late Herbert P. and Mamie E. (Kuhns) Herman. He was a member of Saint John’s Lutheran Church, Kutztown. He honorably and faithfully served our country in the United States Army during World War II, obtaining the rank of Private, First Class. Kenneth was employed as a machine operator by the former Caloric Corporation, Topton, for 40 years, until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of several local softball and golf leagues. Kenneth was an avid supporter of the Kutztown Area High School softball and baseball teams.

In addition to his Wife of 66 years, Anna, Kenneth is survived by a Son, David K., husband of Michele (Markwordt) Herman, Fogelsville; Daughters, JoAnn K. Herman, Horsham, and Julie A. (Herman), wife of Todd A. O’Neil, Kutztown; Sisters, Myrtle (Herman) Dietrich and Marie (Herman) Nelson, McKinney, TX; and 4 Grandchildren, Emily S. (Herman), wife of David Ezdon, Natalie K. (Herman), wife of Joshua Schildt, Lindsay B. Herman, fiancé of Blake Blomstrom, and Carly M. O’Neil. Kenneth was predeceased by his Parents, 7 Sisters and 4 Brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 10:30 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kuztown, with Rev. Mary Ann Hamm officiating. Interment will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Monday morning from 10:00 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.

The family requests contributions be made in Kenneth’s memory to Saint John’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 201 East Main Street, Kutztown, PA  19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
