Kaye E. (Scheirer) Long, 67, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2016 in her residence. She was the loving wife of Jonnie R. Long whom she married on September 5, 1981.

Born in Emmaus, Kaye was the daughter of the late Clayton Scheirer and Edith (Kutz) Schildt. She was a member of Frieden's Lutheran Church, Stony Run, and was a 1966 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School. Kaye worked as a Data Base Analyst for Valley Preferred, Allentown, for 10 years, retiring in 2014. Prior to that, she worked for Prudential Insurance and Hartford Insurance in Fogelsville. Kaye made wonderful chocolate candy that was enjoyed at holidays, family events and other special occasions. Kaye’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She was never too busy to read to them, enjoyed watching their school, church and other activities and loved just spending time with them all. Kaye would always tell them “I love You a Bushel and a Peck and a Hug around the Neck”.

Kaye is survived by her Husband of 34 years, Jonnie; Son, Christopher R., husband of Keri A. (Olson) Madeira and their children, Ethan, Erickson, Alexandria, Savannah and Mackenzie; Son, Tyler J., husband of Katrina D. (Alden) Long, and their children, Blake, Logan and Brock, all of Kempton. She also has 2 Sisters, Yvonne and LaRue; and one Brother, Barry. Kaye was predeceased by her Father, Mother, Step-Father, LeRoy "Pappy" Schildt and Sister, Yvonne.

Funeral services for Kaye will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Kaye's close friend, Mary Ann Hamm officiating. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment in Frieden's Cemetery of Stony Run will be private. The family would like to invite everyone to attend a luncheon at St. John's Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 201 E. Main Street, Kutztown, immediately following the service.

The family requests contributions be made in Kaye's memory to CCOP Romans 12 Ministry at Christmas Pines Campground, 450 Red Church Road, Auburn, PA 17922. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
