Kathryn A Sherman

Kathryn A. Sherman, 102, died Friday, June 28, 2013, in the Lutheran Home at Topton, where she resided for the past four years. Prior to living in the health care center, she resided in a cottage in Luther Haven on the campus of The Lutheran Home at Topton for 47 years. She was the widow of Samuel S. Sherman, who died in 1963.

Born in Heidelberg Township, she was a daughter of the late William F. and Annie L. (Lutz) Webber. Kathryn was a 1933 graduate of Saint Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, Reading. Mrs. Sherman was a registered nurse, working as a nursing supervisor at the Caum Home of Reading and later the Lutheran Home at Topton. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Topton.

She is survived by Niece, Diane L., (Webber) wife of Lee A. Schaeffer, West Lawn; Nephew Doyle M., husband of Mattie Lee (Yancey) Webber, Franklin, VA. There are also great nieces and a great nephew, Katie A. Schaeffer, Daniel L. Schaeffer, Elizabeth A. (Webber) wife of William Nugent, Allison M. Webber and Caroline V. Webber; great-great niece Scarlett Nugent.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 10:30 AM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Inurnment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring, PA. Friends may call from 10:00 to 10:30 AM.

The family requests contributions be made to The Lutheran Home at Topton, 1 S. Home Avenue, Topton, PA 19562. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
