Kathryn A Saul

Kathryn A. (Saul) Saul, life-long resident and currently the oldest resident of Kutztown, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2015 at the age of 105. She was the widow of J. Gomer Saul who died January 14, 2001.

Born in 1910 in Kutztown, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Henry W. and Katie E. (Trexler) Saul. Mrs. Saul was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kutztown. She was a graduate of Kutztown Area High School and a 1930 graduate of the former Kutztown State Teacher's College, now Kutztown University, where she received a degree in Elementary Education. Mrs. Saul was employed as an elementary school teacher and educator by Kutztown Area School District, for 18 years, retiring in 1974. Prior to that, she was employed in the same capacity by Oley Valley School District. She was a member of Order of the Easter Star, East Penn Chapter #336, Kutztown. Mrs. Saul was honored to be a part of this year's Kutztown Bicentennial Celebration, where she served as a Grand Marshall in the Bicentennial Parade on August 1. She was also fortunate to be a part of Kutztown's Centennial and Sesquicentennial celebrations in 1915 and 1965.

She is survived by two Sons, Daniel T., husband of Carol I. (Shankweiler) Saul, Cape Coral, Florida and Leonard H., husband of Christine J. (Yerger) Saul, Easton; one Great Grandson, Matthew Saul; and one Great-Great Grandson. Mrs. Saul was predeceased by her husband, J. Gomer Saul; Grandson, Michael A. Saul; Brother, Charles Saul; and Sister, Helen (Saul) Stein.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 12:00 noon in Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 West Main Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Keith K. Rohrbach officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Kutztown. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday from 11:00 to 12:00 noon in the church.

The family requests contributions be made in Kathryn's memory to Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 West Main Street, Kutztown, PA  19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
