Kathleen G. Hemphill, 69, of formerly of Topton, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2026 in Tower Health - Reading Hospital, West Reading, PA. Born in Allentown, PA, Kathleen was a daughter of the late George S. and Mildred M. (Merkel) Hemphill.
She was a 1974? graduate of Brandywine Heights High School, Topton. Kathy dedicated her life to serving others in her role as a pastoral careperson within First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, where she was also a member. Her nurturing spirit and gentle guidance brought comfort and solace to many, and she will be fondly remembered for her ability to listen, empathize, and uplift those in need.
Kathy was a true homemaker who loved to cook, bake, iron, do laundry, garden, and take care of her home. She also loved to feed birds and watch old movies. Kathleen's warmth and vibrant spirit touched the lives of countless individuals, and her contributions to the community will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her three children, Shane L. Kemp, Kutztown, Chris G., husband of Angela M. (Smith) Kemp, Topton, and Heather E. Kemp, Lancaster; step-son, Ryan S., husband of Gia (Palazzolo) Mammele, Collegeville; 10 grandchildren, Jovan, Jordan, Jamal, Laura, Aaron, Landon, Nathaniel, Brody, Oliva and Evan; great-granddaughter, Lani; and two sisters, Mary Ann (Hemphill), wife of David Trout, Alburtis, and Elaine (Hemphill), wife of Carl Williams.
Along with her parents, Kathleen was predeceased by her brother, Ronald Hemphill and great-grandson, Lane Reichard.
A funeral service to celebrate and honor Kathleen's life will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, 3231 Tilghman Street, Allentown, PA, with The Reverend Dr. Kathryn Foster officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the church.
