Kathleen E. Smith

Kathleen E. (Brandt) Smith, 80, of Kutztown, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 22, 2018 in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township. She was the loving wife of Allen P. Smith, whom she married on January 21, 1967. Born in West Reading, Kathleen was a daughter of the late Herbert G. and Alice E. (Price) Brandt. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kutztown, where she was a member of the choir, bible study group and several other committees.

She was a graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, Shillington, and McCann School of Business, Reading. Mrs. Smith was employed as a Secretary at Kutztown University for 24 years, retiring in 1999. Most recently, she was a homemaker who always kept herself busy. Kathleen loved to sing. She was a member of the Kutztown Community Choir for over 25 years. She also looked forward to her weekly lunched and dinners with her friends.

In addition to her husband of 51 years, Allen, Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Cynthia K. Smith, and her wife, Michelle E. Smith, of Topton; five grandchildren, Zachary A. Cutlip, Daniel M. Smith, Adam R. Smith, Joseph Schuster, and Stephen Schuster. Kathleen was predeceased by her parents, a daughter, Christine D. (Smith) Schuster on March 9, 2016, a sister, Roberta L. (Brandt) Grube, and a brother in infancy.

A memorial service to celebrate Kathleen's life will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 357 West Main Street, Kutztown, with Reverend David R. Strobel officiating. Burial will follow in Mohnsville Cemetery, Mohnton. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the church.
