Karen L. (Christman) Lorish, 55, of Fleetwood, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 27, 2017 in her residence.
Born in Allentown, Karen was a daughter of LeRoy W. and Betty J. (Keller) Christman of Kutztown. In her younger years, Karen attended Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, Dryville, and worked on a neighboring Maxatawny Township farm, where she was very knowledgeable about the day-to-day duties. She was a graduate of Kutztown Area High School. Karen was employed as a custodian at Kutztown University for over 10 years. She previously was employed as a cashier at Boyer’s Food Market, Fleetwood, for four years, and by Fleetwood Area School District, working as a custodian in all of their buildings, for several years. Karen was also very active for many years with the Tri-Valley YMCA, Fleetwood, where she volunteered her time with many events and activities. A people person, Karen made friends and knew people wherever she went. She also had a love for tigers, baking, cooking, country music and her four-legged feline companion, Nathan. Above all, Karen loved her children, grandchildren, parents, and family more than anything.
In addition to her Parents, LeRoy and Betty, Karen is survived by her 3 Children, Denise M. Lorish, companion of James D. Shupp, Leesport, Jason L., husband of Nicole R. (Koller) Lorish, Auburn, and Tammy L. Lorish, Fleetwood, 6 Grandchildren, Madison and Mason Shupp, and Brayden, Kinsley, Adalynn and Emersyn Lorish; and her Husband, Donald S. Lorish, Bethlehem. She is also survived by her Siblings, Donna L. (Christman), wife of Ralph Weller, Fleetwood, Bruce A., husband of Cindy Christman, Hamburg, Leonard J., husband of Ellen Christman, Kempton, Neal R., husband of Michele Christman, Kutztown, and Penny J. (Christman), wife of Timothy Grim, Collegeville; Parents-in-law, Raymond and Linda (Gressley) Lorish, Alburtis; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant Son, Kevin S. Lorish, in 1988.
A funeral service to celebrate Karen’s life will be held on Monday evening, July 31, 2017 at 7:00 PM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Burial, next to her late son, will be private in Huff’s Church Union Cemetery, Alburtis.
