Karen Ann (Kenary) Spano, 71, of Kutztown, formerly of Wyomissing, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 24, 2016 in the residence she shared with her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Michael Ramos, after a brief illness. Mrs. Spano was the widow of Louis J. Spano, who passed away on January 13, 2015.

Born in Glen Cove, NY, Karen was a daughter of the late Adrian V. and Helen (Langton) Kenary.  Karen was a member of Saint Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, Reading. She graduated from Glen Cove High School, Glen Cove, NY, in 1963. Mrs. Spano worked as a caseworker with the American Red Cross, in its Reading office for over 23 years, until her retirement in 2011.

She is survived by her two Sons, Mark C., husband of Carolyn (Shultz) Spano, Wernersville; Adrian J. Spano, Wyomissing; and one Daughter, Karen B. (Spano), wife of Michael A. Ramos, with whom she resided. Other survivors include a Sister, Juel M. Kenary, Glen Cove, NY; Brothers, Thomas, husband of Adele Kenary and Norman, husband of Maureen Kenary, both of Glen Cove, NY; Adrian Kenary, Kings Park, NY; Sister-in-law, Carol Kenary widow of predeceased Brother Hugh Kenary, Glen Cove, NY. There are also 8 Grandchildren, Joseph, Natalyn, Megan, Michael, Brook, Daniel, Max and Paige.  In addition to Brother, Hugh, Karen was predeceased by Brothers James Kenary and Donald Kenary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at 9:30 AM from Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, with Reverend Monsignor Walter T. Scheaffer, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA. Relatives and friends may call on Friday evening, July 29, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, and again on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 9:30 AM in the church.

The family requests contributions be made in Karen's memory to the American Red Cross of Berks County, 701 Centre Avenue, Reading, PA 19601-2507. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
