Julie K. (Angstadt) Gangawere, 52, of Mertztown, died Monday, June 14, 2010 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem, where she had been a patient since May 19th. She was the wife of Richard A. Gangawere. They were married on November 17, 1979.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of Dallas A. and Anna L. (Schwoyer) Angstadt of Rockland Township and daughter-in-law of Paul Gangawere, Mertztown. She was a 1975 graduate and president of her class at Brandywine Heights Area High School, Topton; and, received an associate’s degree in accounting from Allentown Business School in 1977, graduating at the top of her class. Julie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Topton, where she was the organist, choir director and Sunday School teacher for 20 years and the secretary for the past year. Julie was best known for directing and composing the last 15 Brandywine Minstrel Shows and was very involved in fund raising for music related activities at the school. She was a life member of Pioneer Grange 1777, Topton, and received the Patron of Silver Star Award for 25 years of service. Julie also received the Topton Jaycees Outstanding Citizen’s Award in 1998. She, along with her husband owned and operated Gangawere Dairy Farm, Longswamp Township. She also was a clerk at Richard M. Heagy Quality Meats and Cheeses at the Renninger’s Farmers Market, Kutztown, and formerly at Boyer’s Market, Boyer’s Junction.

She is survived by Husband, Parents, Father-in-law, Daughter, Crystal K. (Gangawere) wife of Frank R. Flamisch, Jr., Easton; Son, Andrew P. Gangawere, Fleetwood; Sisters, Connie M. (Angstadt) wife of Herman A. Manbeck, Wolmelsdorf, Holly A. (Angstadt) wife of Glenn E. Allen, Mertztown; Brothers, Myles G. Angstadt, Arendtsville, Adams County, Clay P. husband of Beth A. (Huff) Angstadt, Mertztown; Granddaughter, Hannah Nicole Flamisch and the family German Shepherd/Huskie, Maddie.

Funeral Services are Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 11:00 AM in Brandywine Heights Area High School, 103 Old Topton Road, Mertztown. Interment in Topton Union Cemetery, Topton. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:30 PM and Saturday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 AM in the school.
