SSgt. Joseph "Joe" R. Stoess, US Marine Corps, retired, 41, of Kempton, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023 in his residence, following a courageous battle with Cholangiocarcinoma. He was the loving husband of 20 years to Renee D. Stoess, whom he married in 2002.
He is survived by his three children, Tristan 20, Cadence 17, and Wyatt 13; his beloved dog Daisy; parents, Judy Lawrence and Dan Stoess; and brother, Josh Stoess, all of Kentucky.
Joe honorably and faithfully served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps for 14 years until his retirement. During his service in the military, Joe traveled the world, 36 countries to be exact. After his medical retirement, Joe began his second act as a youth and high school football coach in the Kutztown area. Joe was too awesome to be contained to an obituary. He lived a life full of travel and adventure with no regrets.
A visitation time and celebration of Joe's life will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the banquet hall of Kutztown Fire and Rescue, 310 Noble Street, Kutztown. Military honors provided by The United States Marine Corps will conclude the visitation and begin promptly at 2:15p.m. Overflow parking will be available at Kutztown Area High School.
The family requests that contributions kindly be made to one of four places that were very important to Joe:
