Joseph J Vanek

Joseph J. Vanek, age 81, of South Laurel Street, Kutztown PA, died Wednesday, October 16, 2002 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township PA. He was the husband of Edith M. (Klusman) Vanek. The couple celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary last November.

Born in New Ringgold PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Magula) Vanek. He worked in Research and Development for the Boeing-Vertal Plant, Philadelphia PA for over 50 years, retiring in 1988. He was also a Barber for six years during the 1960's at the Vanek Barber Shop, Bel Mar NJ. He was a Member of St. John's UCC Church, Kutztown. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II.

He is survived by his Wife; Daughters, Yvonne M. (Vanek) Rathbun of Temecula CA, Cynthia M. (Vanek) Dennie of Greeley CO and Patty M. (Vanek) Zubia of Telford PA; Sons, Gregory J. Vanek of Hummelstown PA, David J. Vanek of Melbourne FL, Joseph J. Vanek, Jr. of West Chester PA, Timothy Vanek of Kutztown PA and Stephen J. Vanek of Cincinnati OH; Sisters, Helen (Vanek) Macey of Reading PA, Anna (Vanek) Ludwig of Reading PA and Catherine (Vanek) Foley of Baltimore MD; Step Sisters, Helen (Sestak) Popovich, Coatesville PA and Anka (Vilcheck) Istle, Dauphin County PA; 15 Grandchildren and 1 Great Granddaughter.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, October 19, 2002 in St. John's UCC Church, 257 West Walnut Street, Kutztown. Family and Friends may call Saturday 9:30 AM in the Church. Interment in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown PA with Military Honors. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown PA.
