Joseph D. Ludwig, 79, of Fleetwood, died suddenly Monday, July 8, 2024, in the Emergency Department of Penn State Health - Saint Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township. He was the loving husband of Brenda L. (Klementovich) Ludwig. They were married May 23, 1998. Born in Fleetwood, Joseph was a son of the late Joseph and Esther (Heffner) Ludwig. Joseph honorably and faithfully served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Vietnam War.
Following his discharge from the service Joe attended Kutztown University, receiving a Bachelor's Degree. Joseph first started with The Lutheran Home at Topton as a House Parent and then continued his fostering with CONCERN, Fleetwood, for numerous years.
Joe then embarked on a real estate career that spanned nearly 41 years. He was the Broker Manager of the John W. Monaghan Realty - Kutztown Office, which he owned in partnership with Jeffrey Sicher and Brighton Reinert.
Joseph was a member of the Reading - Berks Association of Realtors, where he was Chairman of their Board of Ethics. He was a former member of the Lehigh Valley Association of Realtors. Joe was a long-time member of Moselem Springs Golf Club, Fleetwood. Joseph was a member of Huguenot Lodge #377, F.&A.M., Kutztown; and a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite in the Valley of Reading. Joseph was a former member of Kutztown Rotary.
In addition to his wife of 26 years, Brenda, Joe is survived by sons: Brian D., husband of Andrea J. (Mulick) Miller, Macungie; Nicholas Seaborne, husband of Allison Chen, New Jersey; Paul S. Sewell, Pittsburgh; step sons: Joseph J., husband of Rebeccalyn (Beaver) Towey, Mount Carmel; John J., husband of Kammie (Studley) Towey, Ashland. There are nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by siblings: Jolene (Ludwig) Stein; Jesse Reifsnyder; David J. Ludwig, Theodore C. Ludwig; and Marylou Ludwig. There is a grandchild that predeceased Joseph, Brian Beaver.
The family will informally receive relatives and friends to Celebrate Joe's life between 12:00 noon and 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, (Joe's 80th Birthday) at Moselem Springs Golf Club, 684 Eagle Road, Fleetwood, please stop by to offer your condolences, share a memory, or tell a story among friends, depart as you desire - linger as you like.
