John W. Dries, 69, of Kutztown, died Saturday, October 16, 2010 in his home. He was the husband of Anna M. (Sterner) Dries. They were married 43 years last month.
Born in Kutztown, he was a son of the late John P. and Pearl H. (Hoch) Dries. He was a member of Saint John’s Lutheran Church, Kutztown. He was a 1959 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. John worked as a bricklayer for over 40 years as a member of the International Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen, local No. 5, Harrisburg, last working for R.A. Tauber, Inc., Coopersburg, until his retirement in 2001. He was a dedicated and involved member and past president of the Kutztown Optimist Club 2168, Kutztown, and was a member of the former Hoch-Balthaser Post 480, American Legion, Kutztown.
He is survived by Wife, Son, John P. Dries companion of Randy Giles, Nashville, Tenn.; Daughter, Jennifer A. (Dries) wife of Jesse J. McIlvee, Mohrsville, Berks County. Other survivors include Sisters, Pyllis M. (Dries) wife of Wayne Fegely, Upperco, MD, Lorraine E. Dries, Kutztown, Dorann (Dries) wife of Charles Quattrochi, Deptford, NJ and Carol S. (Dries) wife of Robert A. Tauber, Coopersburg. There is also a Granddaughter, Lindsey N. McIlvee. He was predeceased by a Sister, Bernice A. (Dries) Breslin.
Funeral Services are Saturday, October 23, 2010, at 10:30 AM from Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, 19530. Interment with Military Honors provided by Ray A. Master Post 217 American Legion, Topton in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call Saturday, from 9:00 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
