John M Stichter Sr

John M. Stichter, Sr., 82, of Longswamp Township, died Wednesday, October 26, 2011 in Lehigh Center, Lower Macungie Township. He was the husband of Alverta R. (Reese) Stichter. They were married January 30, 1954.

Born in Macungie, he was a son of the late Elmer F. and Elsie E. (Moyer) Stichter. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean conflict serving with the 118th Infantry Division during the occupation of Germany. He worked as a truck driver for Berks Products Corporation from 1964 until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of Teamsters Local 429, Wyomissing. John enjoyed hunting and worked as a gunsmith from his home for many years.

He is survived by Wife, Son, John M. Stichter, Jr. companion of Lisa J. (Miller) Geist, Alburtis; Daughter, Vicki L. (Stichter) wife of Paul S. Skill, Cape May Courthouse, NJ. Other survivors include Sisters, June (Stichter) Houser, Wilmington, DE and Dorothy (Stichter) Dries, Emmaus; Grandchildren, Casey R. Stichter, Shelby L. Stichter and Bryan P. Skill. He was predeceased by Sisters, Evelyn and Frances and Brothers, Elmer, Jr. and Donald.

Funeral Services are Tuesday, November 1, 2011, 10:30 AM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Interment is private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Tuesday, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.

The family requests contributions be made to Ray A. Master Post 217 American Legion Honor Guard, 133 Centre Avenue, Topton, PA 19562. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
