John K Kemp

John K. Kemp, age 75, of Lyon Station PA, died August 23, 2002 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading PA. He was the husband of Jean K. (Peters) Kemp. The celebrated their 27th Wedding Anniversary this past March. His first wife, Mary L. (Oswald) Kemp died in 1973.

Born in Kutztown PA, he was the son of the late John D. and Alice I. (Smith) Kemp. He was employed by the United State Postal Service for 36 years. He was Post Master from 1973 until his retirement in 1982, from the Kutztown Post Office. He was then employed by the former First Federal Savings and Loan, now Patriot Bank, at its Topton Branch from 1982 to 1989. He was a member of St. Paul's UCC Church, Kutztown, where he was a Deacon, Elder, Consistory President, Financial Secretary for 25 years, a Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Building Committee. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He was a Past President of the Topton Lions Club and Treasurer for the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post, Kutztown.

He is survived by his Wife; Daughters, Alys M. (Kemp) Robertson of Sinking Spring PA and Ann L. (Kemp) Rollman of Reading PA; Sister, Helen M. Kemp of Kutztown PA; Step Son, David A. Shade of Lindenwald NJ; and 3 Grandsons.

Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at 7:00 PM from Saint Paul's United Church of Christ Church, 47-51 South Whiteoak Street, Kutztown. Family and Friends may call 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Church. Interment will be private in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Homes, Kutztown PA.
