John J. Bruno, Jr., 80, of Kutztown, died Monday, November 2, 2015, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of June P. (Knabb) Bruno, whom he married April 2, 1955.
Born in Boston, Mass., he was a son of the late John J. Sr., and Cornelia A. (Bulens) Bruno. Mr. Bruno was a member of Saint Mary's R. C. Church, Kutztown. He was a United States Navy veteran serving in the Korean War on the USS Forrestal. Mr. Bruno was employed as a truck driver by the former AAA Trucking, Allentown, for 24 years until 1991. After that, he worked as a maintenance supervisor at Berkleigh Country Club, Richmond Township, until his retirement in 1997. John was a member of V.F.W. Post 8282, Breinigsville, where he served as Master of Arms in the 1980's. He also was a member and served on the honor guard at Hoch-Balthaser Post 480, Kutztown.
He is survived by Wife of 60 years, June; Daughters, Teresa L. (Bruno) wife of Ron E. Moro, Orlando, Fla, Loretta J. (Bruno) Igo, Allentown; Sons, Joseph J. husband of Tammy S. (Adam) Bruno, Lenhartsville, Dean R. husband of Dena M. (Geisinger) Bruno, Lenhartsville, Mark B. Bruno, Allentown; 5 Sisters, 2 Brothers, and 8 Grandchildren, 3 Step Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. John was predeceased by 3 Sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sat., Nov. 7, 2015 at 10:00 AM in St. Mary's R. C. Church, 14833 Kutztown Rd., Kutztown, with Rev. Msgr. Walter T. Scheaffer as celebrant. Burial, with military honors, in Resurrection Cemetery, Wescosville. Call Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the church.
The family requests contributions be made to the Saint Mary's Church 14833 Kutztown Rd., Kutztown, PA 19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
