John E. Boone, 91, of Bowers, died March 18, 2016, in the inpatient hospice unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the widower of Lois M. (Behm) Boone, who died July 27, 2013. Prior to Lois' death, they had shared 64 years of marriage.

Born in Rockland Township, he was a son of the late Earl W. and Elda Y. (Breidegam) Boone. Mr. Boone was a member of Christ (DeLong) United Church of Christ, Bowers, where he served on the consistory as both a deacon and elder. Mr. Boone was a graduate of Kutztown Area High School, Class of 1942 and was a WWII veteran of the Army Air Corps. John was employed as a machinist for over 40 years, at Caloric Corporation, at its former Topton plant, until his retirement on June 1, 1988.

He is survived by Daughter, Sandra K. (Boone), widow of Ronald R. Luckenbill, Bowers; son, Michael J., husband of Kara L. (Wagaman) Boone, Towson, Maryland; a brother, David, husband of Maryann (Kniss) Boone, Fleetwood. There are also two granddaughters, Samantha C. Boone and Madison R. Boone.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 10:30 AM in Christ (DeLong) United Church of Christ, 63 Old Bowers Road, Bowers, with Reverend Roger M. Ulrich officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by Ray A. Master Post 217 American Legion Honor Guard, Topton, will follow in Union Cemetery of Bowers. Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the church.

The family requests contributions be made to Christ (DeLong) United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 99, Bowers, PA 19511. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
