John A. Steinle, Jr., USMC (Ret.), 71, of Kutztown, died Sunday, December 2, 2012 in his residence. He was the husband of Judith L. (Petersen) Steinle. They were married January 26, 1980.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late John A., Sr., and Dorothy E. (Cunnius) Steinle. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kutztown. Mr. Steinle was a career veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during Vietnam War. Mr. Steinle was a life member of Berks County Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 131, Reading, V.F.W. Post 6150, Sinking Spring, Non-Commissioned Officers Association. He was also a member of Horace M. Kieffer Post 625, American Legion, Fleetwood. John loved music, enjoyed playing the piano, and loved to sing. He is a former member of the Reading Pretzel City Chorus and Barbershoppers, Country Rendition Quartet, Trinity Lutheran Church Choir, and sang with various chapel choirs, and other church choirs during his time in the Marine Corps. In addition to enjoying time with his wife, family, and friends, he liked to listen to gospel music, Nascar races, especially #24 Jeff Gordon, Penn State football games, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers, and watching professional golf.

(Hassler), wife of Jeffrey Hertzog, Blandon, and Karen M. Hassler, Fleetwood; Step-Son, Mark A., husband of Holly (Medlar) Hassler, Reading; Grandchildren, Barry M., husband of Erica Plaunt, Nicholas Plaunt companion of Kristen Bosack, Kyle Plaunt, all of Harrisburg, Cristin Steinle-Belda, wife of Jay Belda, and Felicia Ann, wife of Ryan Bates, both of Houston, TX, Kayla M. Steinle, Elizabethtown, Schuyler T. Steinle, Reading, Amber L., wife of David Hadvab, Gilbert, AZ, Thomas V., Jr., husband of Jessica Alexander, Mohnton, Christopher A. Hassler, Leanna L. Hassler, David M. Hassler, Elizabeth K. Hassler, all of Reading, Ronald G. Seidel, Fleetwood; Great Grandchildren, Isaiah M. Plaunt, Liliana M. Plaunt, Kalia N. Plaunt, Brayden A. Plaunt, Rheya Popp, Devan M. Hadvab and Cavan J. Hadvab. He was predeceased by a Grandson, Brad Anthony Plaunt.
Memorial Services are Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 11:00 AM in Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 W. Main Street, Kutztown, 19530. Inurnment with military honors provided by Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion Honor Guard, Topton, and the United States Marine Corps will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood. Friends may call Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church.
