Mr. John A. Geist

John A. Geist, Jr., 72, of Alburtis, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 in Lehigh Valley Inpatient Hospice at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the devoted husband of Bonnie L. (Reese) Geist, whom he married on August 26, 1966.

Born in Alburtis, John was a son of the late John A. Geist, Sr., and Esther P. (Ruppert) Geist. He attended Emmaus High School and Huff's Union Church. John honorably and faithfully served in The United States Army during the Vietnam War. He later served in The Pennsylvania National Guard for many years.

John was employed by The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, working as a Lieutenant at their Graterford Correctional Facility for 25 years. After his retirement, John worked as a Security Guard for the former The Wackenhut Corporation. John was an avid woodworker and enjoyed working outside. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandson, Finn.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, Bonnie, John is survived by his two children, Mark A. Geist, M.D. of Providence, Rhode Island, and Tracy L. (Geist), wife of Jeffrey Weed, Easton, Pennsylvania, and his grandson, Finnegan J. Weed. He is also survived by a sister, Donna (Geist) Daniel, and brother, Barry Geist, and was predeceased by two brothers, Ricky Geist and Randy Geist.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate John’s life will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 12:00 noon in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, PA, with The Reverend Matthew Davies officiating. Burial will be held privately in Huff’s Church Union Cemetery, Alburtis.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. In the funeral home.
