Joan P. (Wentzel) Haring, 86, of Kutztown, died peacefully, Saturday, November 2, 2024, surrounded by her family in Complete Care at Lehigh, Lower Macungie Township. She was the widow of Allen R. Haring who died July 22, 2023. They were married almost 66 years and, as Joan liked to say - together they raised 4 children, who raised 4 grandchildren, who are raising 4 great grandchildren. Born in Reading, Joan was a daughter of the late Grover M. and May C. (Bailey) Wentzel.
Joan was a proud graduate of Kutztown Area High School, Class of 1956 and a lifelong member of the Kutztown community. She routinely served as an election worker and was inducted into the Pennsylvania Voter's Hall of Fame for her consistent 50 year voting record. She was a longtime member and former president of the Woman's Club of Kutztown. She volunteered her time to serve her community through Meals on Wheels and by donating knitted works to those in need. Joan was a regular supporter of Opportunity House, Reading.
Joan is survived by her daughters, Kay A. Haring, wife of Tom E. Wessner, Muhlenberg Township, Berks County; Karen A. (Haring) DeLong, wife of Scott J. DeLong, Kutztown; and Kristen A. Haring, wife of Roger S. Magoulas, Sonoma County, CA. Other survivors include: her brother James Wentzel, Mechanicsburg. There are four grandchildren: Lana Jo Hill, wife of Tanner Spaulding; Yenna K. Hill, partner of Johannes M. Cruz; Seth S. DeLong, partner of Victoria DeLuca; and Rachel K. DeLong, partner of Steven S. MacKenzie; and four great grandchildren: Harlow Moon Hill; Mitchell Allen Spaulding; Keith Lawrence Spaulding; and Violet Joan Spaulding. In addition to her husband Allen, and parents, Joan was predeceased by a son, Keith A. Haring, who died in 1990, and siblings, Jeanette M. (Wentzel) Ebling and Jay A. Wentzel.
A memorial service to celebrate and honor Joan's life will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Relatives and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m in the funeral home. Inurnment is private at the convenience of the family in Fairview Cemetery, Kutztown.
