Jeffory L. Buck, 60, Chief of Walnuttown Fire Company, Berks County, of Maidencreek Township, was fatally injured in the line-of-duty on Saturday, April 4, 2026 in Richmond Township, PA, along with his best friend and Assistant Chief, Robert R. Shick, Jr. He was the husband of Jennifer M. (Badman) Buck, whom he married on April 18, 1992.

Born in West Reading, PA, Jeff was a son of Richard H. Buck of Fleetwood, and the late Sandra K. (Schaeffer) Buck and was a proud graduate of Fleetwood Area High School.

For 35 years, Jeff was employed by East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., Lyon Station, last working as an Assembly Leadman in their A1 building, last working Friday. Prior to his time at DEKA, Jeff worked at the Boyertown Foundry. His commitment to his work and his colleagues served as a testament to his strong work ethic and leadership qualities.

Jeff dedicated his life to serving others and was a member of Walnuttown Fire Company for 43 years. During his time serving his community, Jeff served as Deputy Chief for 20 years and since 2017, as the Chief.

Jeff was also a regular donor for Miller-Keystone Blood Center and for the past 20 years, donated every two weeks. He was a member of Alsace Manor Social Quarters and a member of the former Walnuttown Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and wood chopping.

Jeff spent his life as a proud member of his community, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and nurturing presence will remain deeply etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to share their lives with him.

Along with his wife of nearly 32 years, Jen, and father, Richard, Jeff is survived by his two children, Robert M., husband of Nicoletta V. (Ianaconne) Buck, Wernersville, PA, and Chad R. Buck, and his girlfriend, Linzee L. Heck, Fleetwood; two grandchildren, Kaylee A. Buck and Elyse P. Buck; his twin brother, Michael R., husband of Sharon (Wilkinson) Buck, Blandon, PA; nephew, Brandon M. Buck, Fleetwood, PA; and countless friends who will miss him dearly.

Joint Funeral Services for Chief Jeffory L. Buck and Assistant Chief Robert R. Shick, Jr. will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Fleetwood High School Auditorium, 803 N. Richmond Street, Fleetwood. Relatives, friends and fellow first responders are invited to joint viewings on Friday evening, April 10, 2026, from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. in Fleetwood High School Auditorium. Final Disposition for both fire fighters will be private at the convenience of each of their families. Doors will open on Saturday morning beginning at 9:15 a.m. and there will not be a viewing prior to the service.
