Jean I. (Isamoyer) Althouse, 85, of Longswamp Township, died on Monday, December 19, 2016 in St. Luke's Hospital, Allentown, where she had been a patient for two weeks. She was the widow of Niles R. Althouse, who died on March 7, 2000.

Born in Longswamp Township, Jean was a daughter of the late George, Sr., and Irene (Guldin) Isamoyer. Mrs. Althouse was a member of Longswamp United Church of Christ, Mertztown. Jean was employed by The Lutheran Home at Topton, where she first worked as a custodian and then was a Supervisor of Environmental Services. She retired in 1993. She enjoyed attending shows at various dinner theatres and spending time with her family.

Jean is survived by her 7 Children, Donna L. (Althouse), wife of Daniel P. DeLong, Bowers, JoAnn I. (Althouse) Jones, Fleetwood, Sue M. (Althouse), wife of Jeffrey McElrea, Mertztown, Cindy R. (Althouse), wife of Neil D. Conrad, Mertztown, Debra J. (Althouse), wife of Kenneth Y. Hollenbach, Hamburg, Michael R., husband of Karen D. (Bucks) Althouse, Kutztown, and Joe T. Althouse, Mertztown; 15 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by a Sister, Anna (Isamoyer), widow of Fred Eisenhard, a resident of Lehigh Center, Macungie, and 2 Brothers, Edwin Isamoyer, Fleetwood, and George, Jr., husband of Irene Isamoyer, Mertztown. Jean was predeceased by her Husband, Parents, Sisters, Joyce (Isamoyer) Neimeyer and Betty (Isamoyer) Oswald, and Brothers, Herbert Isamoyer and Harold Isamoyer.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 11:30 AM in Longswamp United Church of Christ, 200 Clay Road, Mertztown, with Rev. Dr. Katherine E. Brearley officiating. Inurnment will follow in Topton Union Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 10:00 to 11:30 AM in the church.
