Jean H Hertzog

Jean H. (Leibold) Hertzog, 81, of Topton, died Sunday, September 8, 2013 in the Buehrle Assisted Living Center of The Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the widow of Ernest L. Hertzog who died February 14, 1970.

Born in North Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, she was a daughter of the late George P. and Hattie A. (Snyder) Leibold. Mrs. Hertzog was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Topton, where she also served as treasurer of Lutheran Church Women and was also active in other organizations and committees within the church. She was treasurer of Berks Cluster of Northeast Pennsylvania Synod of Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Jean also served as treasurer of Pioneer Grange #1777, Topton. Mrs. Hertzog owned and operated Jean's Beauty Shop from her home in Topton from 1950 to 1975, then worked as a beautician for 22 years at The Lutheran Home at Topton, until her retirement in 1997. Jean loved to bake and was known for her delicious cakes.

She is survived by Son, Keith E. husband of Cheryl A. (Youse) Hertzog, Hamburg; Daughter-in-law, Lois A. (Clemens) Hertzog, Hamburg, widow of predeceased Son, Kevin L. Hertzog who died in 2003. Other survivors include a Sister, Barbara (Leibold) wife of Daniel C. Richards, Allentown and a Brother, Robert P. husband of Gladys (Reigle) Leibold, Mertztown. There are also 2 Grandchildren, Nathan A., husband of Shannon R. (Brownback) Hertzog and Jessica A. Hertzog; and 2 Great Grandchildren, Petra May Hertzog and Weston A. Hertzog.

Funeral Services are Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 10:00 AM from Trinity Lutheran Church, 121 South Home Avenue, Topton. Interment will follow in Topton Union Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the church.
