Jean B Rhode

Jean B. (Romig) Rhode, 85, of Lewisburg, formerly of Topton, died Sunday, April 6, 2014 in Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. She was the widow of GlenRoy W. Rhode who died October 1, 1992.

Born in Longswamp Township, she was the daughter of the late Harry G. and Pearl A. (Eck) Romig. Mrs. Rhode was a member of Longswamp United Church of Christ, Mertztown. She was a graduate of Kutztown Area High School. Mrs. Rhode was employed as a clerk and bookkeeper by Arlan R. Christ, Kutztown, from 1982 until her retirement in 1997. Prior to that, she worked in the same capacity for Mr. Christ's predecessor, Howard J. Dietrich, Accountant, Kutztown, for 36 years. Mrs. Rhode was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, East Penn Chapter #336, Kutztown, where she served as a Flag Bearer, Marshall, Ruth, Esther, and Electa. Jean loved her family, and her family dearly loved her.

She is survived by Nephew, Reverend Michael C., husband of Ruth (Wertz) Romig, Mifflinburg, Union Co.; Sister-in-law, Ruth S. (Conrad) Romig, Lewisburg, widow of predeceased Brother, Carl H. Romig; Great Nieces, Joanna E. (Romig), wife of Fletcher Robinson, Oakville Ontario, Canada, and Bethany S. Romig, Watertown, Mass.; Great-Great niece, Raelynne; and Great-Great Nephew, Decklan .

Memorial Services are Friday, April 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Inurnment will follow in Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown. Relatives and friends may call Friday afternoon from 1:30 to 2:00 PM in the funeral home.

The family requests contributions be made to Longswamp United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 200 Clay Road, Mertztown, PA  19539. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
