Jean A Becker

Jean A. (Hilbert) Becker, 86, formerly of Kutztown, died Friday, September 30, 2016, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the widow of Donald R. Becker, who died in 1982.

Born in Maxatawny Township, she was a daughter of the late Freeman P. and Carrie M. (Miller) Hilbert.  Jean was a member of Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, Dryville. She worked as a waitress at Kutztown Fire Company, Kutztown, for many years, then, worked as a bartender over 10 years at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Kutztown, and finally as a bartender at the Kutztown Rod & Gun Club, Kutztown, until her retirement in 2010. Jeannie loved to play cards and go dancing. She loved bus trips to the casinos, cooking and cleaning. Jean was a member of the ladies auxiliaries of Lyons Fire Company, Lyon Station; Fraternal Order of Eagles, Kutztown; and Ray A. Master Post 217 American Legion, Topton.

She is survived by Son, Kerry G. husband of Debra D. (Moser) Loy, Lyon Station; Daughters, Paulette J. (Loy) wife of Leo L. Lichman, Jr., Kutztown, and Donna R. Becker, Kutztown. Other survivors include a Sister, Miriam (Hilbert) widow of Mark Reed, Topton; Brothers, Lee husband of Deanna (Ringler) Hilbert and Karl husband of Janet (Ringler) Hilbert, both of Lyon Station.  There are 3 Grandchildren, Krystal D. Loy, Kiel A. Bittner and Dylan R. Becker. In addition to her Husband and Parents, Jean was predeceased by a Son, Leonard P. Loy, who died in 1971; a Sister, Roberta (Hilbert) Schukraft; and a Brother, John F. Hilbert.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at 10:00 AM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Cheryl F. Meinschein, officiating.  Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Reading, PA.  Family and friends may call Wednesday, 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the funeral home.

The family requests contributions be made in memory of Jean to Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
