Jay W. Boyer, 68, of Greenwich Street, Kutztown, died Friday, February 25, 2005, at Maxatawny Elementary School, where he was stricken while working. He was married to Edna M. (Reidenhour) Boyer, since July 20, 1957.
Born in Rockland Twp., Berks County, PA, he was the son of the late Warren S. and the late Mabel V. (Scheidt) Boyer. He was employed as a Butcher for Peters Brothers, Lenhartsville, for 15 years. He then worked as a Butcher for Kings IGA, in Hamburg and Schnecksville (Lehigh County) for 10 years. He was last employed since 1984 by Kutztown Area School District as a custodian and maintenance man at the Maxatawny Elementary School, Maxatawny Twp. He was a 1954 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, (Rockland Twp.) Fleetwood.
He is survived by Wife, Sons, Jeffrey J. Boyer, Mertztown (Rockland Twp.), Keith A. Boyer, Fleetwood (Rockland Twp.), Kelly L. Boyer, Kutztown; Daughter, Joy A. (Boyer) wife of Michael G. Fink, Lenhartsville (Windsor Twp.); Sisters, Hilda M. (Boyer) wife of Harold J. Hein, Mertztown (Rockland Twp.), Jeannette M. (Boyer) wife of Dale H. Landis, Kutztown, Diana E. (Boyer) wife of Ronald G. Ream, Mertztown (Maxatawny Twp.); 7 Grandchildren.
Funeral Services are Monday, February 28, 2005, at 10:30 AM from Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, Fleetwood. (Rockland Twp.). Interment in Hope Cemetery, Dryville (Rockland Twp.). Friends may call Sunday, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
