Jay S. Leinbach, 82, of Kutztown, died Friday, August 2, 2013 in Kutztown Manor Nursing Home, Kutztown, where he was a patient since June 24, 2013. He was the husband of Shirley M. (Arndt) Leinbach. They were married June 26, 1954.
Born in Kutztown, he was a son of the late Harry and Ida M. (Stufflet) Leimbach. He was a member of Saint Pauls United Church of Christ Church, Kutztown, where he was an Elder, Deacon and former president of consistory. Jay was a 1949 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. He also attended Penn State University. A veteran of both the Korean War and Viet Nam War, Jay was a career member of the United States Air Force. He was a Senior Master Sergeant, performing flight-line operations at various Air Force bases during his twenty plus year career in the military. Following his retirement from military service in 1972, he worked as the scheduling manager for Moyer Plumbing & Heating Company, Kutztown, from 1972 to 1992. He then worked on the production line at SOLO Laboratories, Kutztown, for two years.
Mr. Leinbach was a member, former member of the board of directors of Kutztown Lions Club and a Melvin Jones Award recipient. He also served as chairman of the committee that oversaw the operation of their Fair Stand. Jay was a member of the board of directors for many years of the Keystone Community Blood Bank, now Miller-Keystone. Mr. Leinbach also served on the board of directors of Saucony Cross Apartments and was instrumental in the development and construction of Saucony Cross Apartments and both Wilson Manor and Saucony Meadows, all senior living communities in Kutztown. Jay was a member, officer and handicapper for East Penn Golf League. He was also a member of both Kutztown and Lyons Fire Companies.
He is survived by Wife, Sons, Steven J. husband of Sherry B. (Jenne) Leinbach, Mertztown and Keith J. Leinbach, Kutztown. Other survivors include Grandsons, David J. Leinbach and Brandon L. Leinbach.
Memorial Services are Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 10:30 AM from Saint Pauls United Church of Christ, 47 South Whiteoak Street, Kutztown, 19530. Inurnment with Military Honors in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call Wednesday, from 9:00 to 10:30 AM in the church.
