Jay M Schlegel

Jay M. Schlegel, 78, of Kutztown, died Friday, December 23, 2011 in the ManorCare Nursing Home, Laureldale, where he had been a patient since October. He was the husband of the late Gloria J. (Sterner) Schlegel, who died July 28, 2009.

Born in Kutztown, he was a son of the late Paul L. and Marguerite ( Hassler) Schlegel. Mr. Schlegel was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a press operator at the former Dana (Parish) Division for 30 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Pikeville Sportsman Association and the Old Time Plow Boys Club, Mertztown.

He is survived by Step-Daughter, Heidi M. (Ketner) wife of Grant R. Doerrman, Fleetwood; Brother, Gene C. Schlegel, Mertztown. He was pre-deceased by a Sister, Janice A. (Schlegel) Oswald and Brothers, Paul D. and Neil S. Schlegel.

Graveside Services are Thursday, December 29, 2011 in Laureldale Cemetery at 2:00 PM, with Military Honors performed by the Ray A. Master American Legion, Post #217, Topton.

Contributions may be made to the Ray A. Master American Legion Honor Guard, 115 E. Centre Avenue, Topton, PA 19562. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
