James R. "Jinx" "Jimbo" "Mr. M" Mosser, 73, of Whitehall, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 in The Lutheran Home at Topton. He was the loving and dedicated husband of Kathleen A. (Schaller) Mosser, whom he married on August 21, 1971.
Born in Allentown, James was a son of the late Paul R. and Emmajane (Bray) Mosser. James was a 1968 graduate of Whitehall High School and attended both Lehigh Carbon Community College and Muhlenberg College. James was the owner of Brew Lab in Allentown for 25 years and along with his wife, Kathy, was the co-owner of First Step Childcare Center in Allentown, where together they cared for many children over the years. He also worked as a utility foreman for Olen Corp, Fogelsville for several years.
Jim was an accomplished and talented guitar player and played in many bands throughout his career. His talents led to being a member of the notable bands: Rhino, which was the Fernwood House Band, The Bobby Bare Band, The King's Ransom, Erasmus Gigantus, Abeng, Rocking Horse, and Del Vikings to name a few. He also worked as a studio musician in New York, played at The Strathmont mansion, NY, and was a musician at the first Earth Day concert on April 22, 1970, in New York City, where over 100,000 people were in attendance. Jim had quite a love for music and even instilled his passion in the children that attended his childcare center.
Jim also had a love for silent films, which he had quite a collection of and was very knowledgeable about. He enjoyed playing wargames and painting miniature metal Napoleonic figures. Jim also had a love for his community and was a member of the former Parkland Jaycees.
Along with his wife Kathy, James is survived by his two sons, James R. Mosser, II, Whitehall, and Tobias P., husband of Erika Mosser, Macungie; one grandson, Josiah H. Mosser; sister, Jane (Mosser) Curran, Hornell, NY; and in addition to his parents, was predeceased by his brother, Jeffrey D. Mosser.
As per Jim's wishes, services will be held privately and his cremated remains will be scattered in the Atlantic Ocean in Ocean City, NJ.
