James “Martin” Manning, 72, of Mertztown, died on Thursday, April 7, 2016 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the loving husband of Jo (Armstrong) Manning, whom he married on March 17, 1967.
Born in New Rochelle, NY, he was a son of the late John J. Manning and Susan (Hockney) Manning. Mr. Manning attended St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown and St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield. Mr. Manning was a United States Army veteran who was stationed in Korea for one year. Martin was a graduate of LaSalle Military Academy and the University of Illinois, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Economics. He, along with his wife, Jo, owned and operated Distribution Operations Design, Kutztown, for over 20 years. Martin loved to read and complete cross-word puzzles. He was also an avid photographer who loved traveling to Longwood Gardens.
In addition to his Wife of 49 years, Jo, he is survived by a Daughter, Kelly L. (Manning), wife of Kenneth D. Moyer, Jr., Kutztown; one Grandson, Christopher M. Moyer, Kutztown; Sister, Suzanne (Manning), wife of John Tumelty, Yonkers, NY; 5 Nieces and Nephews, Karen Tumelty, Susan Wilson, Chrissy Moses, Joe Manning and PJ Manning. Martin was predeceased by his Parents; and a Brother, John J. Manning in 2011.
In accordance with Martin's wishes, services will be private at the convenience of the family.
