J ack C. Krause, 81, of Richmond Township, died Sunday, December 21, 2014 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading. He was the husband of Rexine R. (Rex) Krause, whom he married August 25, 1962.
Born in Wilmot Township, Bradford County, he was a son of the late Guy and Beatrice (Blemle) Krause. Mr. Krause was a member of Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fleetwood. He served our county as a specialist, third class in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Krause was a 1952 graduate of Dushore High School, Dushore, PA; and a 1962 graduate of Muhlenberg College, Allentown, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in education. He also attended Lehigh University, The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, and East Stroudsburg University, where he completed his post-graduate studies. Mr. Krause was employed as an elementary school teacher for many years, having worked for Washington Township School District, Warren County, NJ, Kutztown Area School District, Kutztown, and Parkland Area School District, Orefield, retiring in 1988. He, along with his family, owned and operated Countryside Farm and Greenhouse, Richmond Township, for 38 years. Mr. Krause was a member of the Richmond Township Planning Commission for over 30 years, serving as Chairman for most of his tenure.
He is survived by Wife; Children, David W., husband of Joan M. (Frantz) Krause, Lancaster, Kathleen K. (Krause), wife of Lawrence W. Scott, III, Allentown, and Philip A., husband of Charity L. (Meals) Krause, Fleetwood. He is also survived by 3 Sisters, Frances (Krause) Fiester, Laporte, Sullivan County, Carol Ann (Krause) Bomboy, Tunkhannock, Wyoming County, and Connie Krause, Texas; and one Brother, Roy Krause, Horseheads, NY; 5 Grandchildren, Sarah A. Krause, Eric M. Krause, Alisha M. Scott, Kayla B. Scott, and Arya J. Krause. He was predeceased by a Sister, Betty (Krause) McKernan; and Brothers, Robert Krause and Richard Krause.
A memorial service will be held Monday, December 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM in Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 117 East Arch Street, Fleetwood, with Reverend Dr. Robert D. Machamer officiating. Relatives and friends may call Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church. Inurnment with military honors will be private in Grandview Cemetery, Allentown.
The family requests contributions be made to Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 117 East Arch Street, Fleetwood, PA 19522. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
