J. Gomer Saul, age 89, of 320 South Whiteoak Street, Kutztown PA, died Sunday, January 14, 2001, in the Lutheran Home at Topton. He was the Husband of Kathryn A. (Saul) Saul. The couple celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary this past June.
Born in Kutztown PA, he was the Son of the late Daniel M. and the late Laura S. (Christman) Saul. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 44 years. He was postmaster of Kutztown from 1960 to 1962. He then served as assistant postmaster from 1962 until his retirement in 1972. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kutztown, where he also had previously served on the Church Council.
He is a Past Master of Huguenot Lodge #377 F.&A.M. having served as Worshipful Master in 1942. He was a member and served as zone chairman of the Valley of Reading consistory and a member of Rajah Temple. He is a charter member of and past president of Kutztown Lions Club, having served as present in 1940 and 1941. He received the Melvin Jones Fellowship in early 1990's. He also received the Pennsylvania Lions Foundation Honor in 1999. He was awarded the Kutztown Jaycees Distinguished Service Award in 1986.
He is survived by his Wife, Son, Daniel T. Saul of Coopersburg PA and Leonard H. Saul of Easton PA; Brother, Frederick J. Saul of Kutztown PA; 1 Grandson and 1 Great Grandson.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 18, 2001, at 10:30 AM from Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 West Main Street, Kutztown. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Maxatawny Township, Kutztown. Friends may call Thursday 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the Church. Arrangements by the Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown PA.
