Ivan L Merkel

Ivan L. Merkel, age 68, of Cocoa FL, formerly of Kutztown PA, died Wednesday, December 20, 2000 in his home. He was the Widower of the late Marilyn H. (Barto) who died in 1966 and the late Linda J. (Brown) who died in 1996.

Born in Kutztown PA, he was the Son of the late Luther P. and the late Elda A. (Merkel) Merkel. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1960 from Villanova University, Philadelphia PA. He worked for DBA Systems, Inc., Melborne FL as a mechanical engineer, from 1979 until his retirement 6 months ago. Prior to that he worked in the same capacity for Tobyhanna Army Depot, and the former Western Electric Company, Allentown, now Lucent Technologies. He was of the Lutheran Faith. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, having served in Japan. He was a member of the Great Canaveral chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America.

He is survived by his Sons, Mark P. Merkel of Barto PA, Matthew I. Merkel of Orlando FL and Peter D. Merkel of New Castle PA; Daughter, Martha L. (Merkel) Miller of Allentown PA; Step Daughter, Tara (Andrews) Creel of Indialantic FL; 2 Grandsons and 1 Step Grandson.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 30, 2000 at 10:30 AM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown PA. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Kutztown. There are no calling hours.
