Isabella K Schmauder

Isabella K. (Kelley) Schmauder, 96, formerly of Laureldale, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Keystone Villa, Fleetwood, where she was a resident for over a year.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Rhea (Moyer) Kelley. She graduated from Muhlenberg High School in 1936. After high school, she was employed as a secretary for Vanity Fair Co., Reading. On June 14, 1941, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert W. Schmauder, Sr., a United States Navy veteran serving in World War II and the Korean War, who predeceased her on April 16, 2012. They were married 70 wonderful years. "Nan," as she was fondly called by most who knew her, was a stay-at-home Mom, who volunteered her time, taught Sunday school, and ran the Women's Auxiliary at her church, Alsace Lutheran Church, Reading. She also donated her time, for many years, as a Camp Fire Girl Leader. Her greatest love was being with her family and traveling to see her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, from coast to coast. She and her husband shared a love for traveling, which took them to all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and most of the countries of Europe.

She is survived by Son, Robert W., Jr., husband of Gaye Schmauder, Phoenix, AZ; Daughter, Diann (Schmauder), wife of James E. Ludwig, Jr., Fleetwood; 4 Grandchildren, William, husband of Theresa Schmauder, Reno, NV, Susan (Schmauder), wife of Matthew Keeler, Sparks, NV, James E., III, husband of Kristin (Roland) Ludwig, Fleetwood, Michael, husband of Gwendolyn (Vonhof) Ludwig, Gilbertsville. There are also 7 Great-Grandchildren, Megan, James, IV, Andrew, Shannon, Emma, Hannah, and Mason. She was predeceased by a Sister, Ruth (Kelley) Long in 1999 .

Joint  graveside services and interment for Mr. and Mrs. Schmauder, with military honors rendered for Mr. Schmauder, will be held Friday, January 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM in Laureldale Cemetery, 4631 Pottsville Pike, Reading, PA. There are no calling hours.
