Isaac M Burkholder

Isaac M. Burkholder, 78, of Maxatawny Township, died unexpectedly Saturday, October 2, 2010, in his home. He was the widower of the late Emma N. (Hoover) Burkholder who died February 12, 2003.

Born in Earl Township, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Paul Z. and Annie B. (Martin) Burkholder. He was a member of the Groffdale Conference of Mennonites, attending the Center Mennonite Church, Maxatawny Township. He was a crop farmer in Maxatawny Township and was the founder and operator of Burkholder’s Farm Market from 1965 to 1998, which his son, Amos H. Burkholder continues to operate.

Zimmerman, Pen Yan, NY, Edith H. (Burkholder) wife of Leonard W. Zimmerman, Ephrata, Eleanor H. (Burkholder) wife of Allen H. Zimmerman, Pen Yan, NY, and Esther H. (Burkholder) wife of Mark M. Zimmerman, Latham, MO; Sons, Phares H. husband of Bertha B. (Nolt) Burkholder, Paul H. husband of Esther M. (Hurst) Burkholder, Isaac H., Jr. husband of Irene Z. (Brubaker) Burkholder and Amos H. husband of Florence R. (Brubaker). There are Brothers, George M. widower of Elizabeth H. (Gehman) Burkholder, Cumberland County, Menno M. widower of Ruth W. (Horning) Burkholder and Paul M. husband of Elizabeth H. (Stauffer) Burkholder, both of Fleetwood and Jonas M. husband of Bertha S. (Zimmerman) Burkholder, Rushville, NY; Sisters, Lizzie M. (Burkholder) wife of Weaver W. Leid, Ephrata, Maria M. Burkholder, Rushville, NY, Ada M. (Burkholder) wife of Aaron M. Zimmerman, Dundee, NY and Susanna M. (Burkholder) wife of Benjamin Z. Shirk, Pen Yan, NY. Mr. Burkholder was predeceased by a Daughter, Katie H. Burkholder and a Sister Minnie M. (Burkholder) late wife of Raymond S. Hoover, Kutztown. In addition, there are 88 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services are from the family residence, 630 Topton Road, Maxatawny Township on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at 9:00 AM with services continuing in Center Mennonite Church. Interment in Center Mennonite Church Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the residence. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
