Irene E Zwoyer

Irene E. (Wessner) Zwoyer, 100, of Virginia Beach, VA, formerly of Kutztown, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in Beth-Shalom Nursing Home, Virginia Beach, where she was a resident for over four years. She was the widow of Paul J. Zwoyer who died August 18, 1983.

Born in Maxatawny Township, she was a daughter of the late George P. and Clara R. (Walbert) Wessner. Mrs. Zwoyer was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kutztown. She was a graduate of Kutztown Area High School, and attended Allentown Business College. Mrs. Zwoyer was employed as a bookkeeper and clerk by the former Kutztown Silk Company, Kutztown, for 15 years until her retirement in 1946.

She is survived by Daughter, Ann I. (Zwoyer), wife of John C. Mattos, Chesapeake, VA; Grandson, Jan T., husband of Sheryl (Walton) Zajdowicz; and Granddaughter, Dr. Rebecca A. Zajdowicz, fiancé of Jeffery Horton. She was predeceased by 3 Brothers, Leon Wessner, William J. Wessner and Wayne G. Wessner .

Graveside Services and interment will be held Friday, February 21, 2014 at 10:30 AM in Zion Maxatawny Union Cemetery, Kutztown, 19530. There are no calling hours.

The family requests contributions be made to Beth-Shalom Nursing Home, 6401 Auburn Drive, Virginia Beach, VA  23464. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
