Howard A. Master, Sr., 88, of Longswamp Township, died Thursday, October 1, 2015 in The Lutheran Home at Topton. He was the husband of Ardelle M. “Shorty” (Lord) Master. They were married June 24, 1950.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Walter L. and Edith E. (Seal) Master. Howard honorably and faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, as a pharmacists mate, third class. Mr. Master worked as a truck driver for West Motor Freight, Boyertown, and Sears Robuck & Co. Howard was an avid fisherman, who enjoyed all kinds of sports.
He is survived by Wife, Ardelle, of 65 years; Daughter, Kimberly A. (Master) Seidel, Blandon; Sons, Walter H. A., husband of Lillian E. (Schleicher) Master, Palm, Montomery County and Ralph A., husband of Mary A. (Reichert) Master, Alburtis; Daughter-in-law, Carol L. (Clemens) Master, widow of predeceased son, Howard A. Master, Jr., who died September 2, 2005. There are also 14 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren. Howard was predeceased by a Son, Howard, Jr., and a Daughter, Jolynn Master in 1962.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, with Reverend Nicholas L. Pence, Jr., officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion Honor Guard, Topton, will follow in Salem Bible Church Cemetery, Macungie. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
