Herbert F Rothermel

Herbert F. Rothermel, 89, of Weisenberg Township, formerly of Greenwich Township, died June 16, 2016 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Herbert was the husband of Patricia E. (Obyle) Rothermel. They were married September 9, 1962.

Born in Centerport, Herbert, was a son of the late Frederick M. and Stella M. (Miller) Rothermel. Mr. Rothermel honorably and faithfully served our country as a Private First Class in the United States Army with service during World War II. He was employed as a press operator in the machine shop of Caloric Corporation at its former Topton plant, prior to his retirement in 1991.

In addition to his wife of 53 years, Patricia, he is survived by Daughters, Beverly J. (Rothermel) wife of Timothy H. Long, Mertztown; Debra A. (Rothermel) wife of Carl Z. Redcay, Boyertown; and Kathleen D. (Rothermel) wife of David T. Laudenslager, Fogelsville; Sons, Charles N. Rothermel, Mertztown; David T. husband of Kim A. (Leslie) Rothermel, Lenhartsville; Michael D. husband of Sandra A. (Gustaff) O'Byle, Lenhartsville. Other survivors include Sisters, Thelma (Rothermel) widow of Paul Bailey, Hamburg; Ruth (Rothermel) widow of William Reider, Oley; and Brothers, Paul S. Rothermel, Kempton and Wayne Rothermel, Trevorton, Northumberland County. There are 15 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 10:30 AM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Minister Edward W. DeWane, officiating.  Interment with Military Honors provided by Ray A. Master Post 217 American Legion Honor Guard, Topton, in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township. Friends may call Wednesday, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.

The family requests contributions be made in Herbert's memory to American Heart Association, Great Rivers Affiliate, PO Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
