Henry M Ryan

Henry M. Ryan, age 78, of 75 Noble Street, Kutztown PA, died Thursday, June 7, 2001 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township PA. He was the Husband of Patricia A. (O'Donnell) Ryan. The couple celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary last July.

Born in Lock Haven PA, he was the Son of the late Henry and Mary G. (Murray) Ryan. He received his Bachelors Degree from Lock Haven State College, now Lock Haven University, in 1947. He received both his Masters of Education and Doctor of Education from Penn State University, State College. He received his doctorate in 1961. He was the Dean of the College of Education of Kutztown University, Kutztown PA, retiring in 1983. He served in that capacity from 1962. Prior to that he was an English Teacher at Saint Mary's High School, Saint Mary's, Elk County during 1947 - 1948; he then was Principal 1948 - 1953; and then Supervising Principal and Chief Administrative Officer 1953 - 1962. He was a Member of Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown PA. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II.

He is survived by his Wife; Daughters, Mary T. (Ryan) Klein of Hellertown PA and Denise (Ryan) Barber of Kingston PA; Son, Kelly C. Ryan of Kutztown PA; Sister, Mary T. (Ryan) Long of Flemington PA; and 4 Grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:15 AM Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at from Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Lebanon County, PA. Friends may call 8:15 to 9:15 AM at the Church. Arrangements by the Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., Kutztown.
